Look up DNS records
Enter a hostname or an IP address and see all the common DNS records for it — as a public resolver sees them.
Record types shown
- A / AAAA
- The IPv4 and IPv6 addresses the name points to.
- CNAME
- An alias: the name is a nickname for another name and takes all its records from there.
- MX
- The mail servers that accept mail for the domain, with their priority.
- NS
- The nameservers that are authoritative for the zone.
- TXT
- Free-text records, used for SPF, DKIM, DMARC and domain verification.
- SOA
- The zone's primary nameserver, contact address, serial number and timers.
- CAA
- Which certificate authorities may issue TLS certificates for the domain.
- SRV
- The host and port of a service, for names such as _sip._tcp.example.com.
- DS / DNSKEY
- The DNSSEC keys of the zone and their fingerprint in the parent zone.
- PTR
- The hostname that belongs to an IP address (reverse DNS).
Frequently asked questions
Where do the answers come from?
From Cloudflare's public resolver (1.1.1.1). You see what an ordinary internet user's resolver sees, and the TTL column shows how long that answer stays cached.
How do I look up a DMARC or DKIM record?
Enter the full name the record lives at: for example _dmarc.example.com, or selector._domainkey.example.com for DKIM.
How do I do a reverse lookup?
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address instead of a name; the tool queries the matching PTR record.
