BIMI check: will your logo show next to your mail?
Enter a domain and we check everything needed for the brand's logo to appear in recipients' inboxes: the BIMI record, the DMARC policy, the logo file and the certificate.
What the BIMI check covers
- BIMI record
- Whether there is exactly one valid record under default._bimi, and where its logo and certificate addresses point.
- DMARC policy
- BIMI works only when the domain's DMARC policy is "quarantine" or "reject". This is the most common reason a logo does not show.
- Logo file
- Whether the logo downloads over HTTPS and meets the basic requirements of the SVG Tiny PS format.
- Certificate
- Whether there is a VMC or CMC certificate, whether it downloads, who issued it and when it expires.
Frequently asked questions
What is BIMI?
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is a standard that lets a brand's logo appear next to its authenticated mail in the recipient's inbox. A DNS record gives the address of the logo.
Why does my logo not show although I have a BIMI record?
The usual causes: the DMARC policy is "none"; the certificate that Gmail and Apple Mail require is missing; or the logo is not in SVG Tiny PS format. Beyond that, each mailbox provider decides for itself whether to show a logo, also based on the sender's reputation, so a flawless setup is required but not a guarantee.
Do I need a VMC certificate?
Gmail and Apple Mail show a logo only with a certificate. A Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) needs a registered trademark; a Common Mark Certificate (CMC) can be issued without one if the logo has been in use for at least a year. Without a certificate the logo appears at only a few providers.
What format must the logo be in?
SVG Tiny Portable/Secure (SVG Tiny PS): a square SVG without scripts, animation or external references, with baseProfile="tiny-ps" and version="1.2" attributes and a <title> element. Keep the file under 32 KB.
